FAQ About Racing Radios Use

Frequently Asked Questions

What radio frequencies do race teams use?

Most racing series use designated commercial or licensed frequencies for team communication. Many teams use DOT or licensed business frequencies depending on the series.

How far do racing radios reach?

Range depends on antenna placement, radio power, and track conditions. Most racing communication systems (4-5watt) easily cover the distance of typical road racing circuits. The rule of thumb is 1 watt per mile.

Can one radio work with multiple cars?

Yes. Many teams configure their communication systems so that multiple cars operate on the same frequency during endurance racing. SRC also offer team owners headset that have the ability to use 2 radios with one headset.

Are digital racing radios better than analog?

Both systems work well depending on racing environments. Digital systems typically are used in road racing enviroments and boat racing were as analog used in circle track and drag racing. NOTE: If you need 100% clarity (no static) digital is the only way to go.
