Quick Installation Guide

RG-58 Roof-Mount Phantom Antenna

SRC – Sampson Racing Communications

1. Select Mounting Location

• Choose the center of the metal roof whenever possible.
• Verify there are no braces or wiring beneath the mounting location.

2. Drill Mounting Hole

• Center punch the location.
• Drill a 3/4" (19 mm) hole.
• Remove all metal burrs.

3. Install NMO Mount

• Feed the RG-58 coax through the hole.
• Tighten the NMO retaining nut from inside the vehicle.
• Ensure the rubber gasket seals against the roof.

4. Install the Phantom Antenna

• Thread the antenna onto the NMO mount.
• Hand-tighten only.

5. Route the RG-58 Coax

• Route the cable down the A-pillar or B-pillar.
• Continue behind the dash to the radio.
• Secure every 6–8 inches with zip ties.

Avoid routing near:

• Ignition coils
• Spark plug wires
• ECU wiring
• High-current power cables

6. Connect the Radio

• Connect the coax to the antenna connector on your racing radio.
• Hand-tighten the connector.

7. Test the System

• Power on the radio.
• Verify transmit and receive operation.
• Perform a radio check with your crew.

SRC Installation Tips

✔ Mount the antenna in the center of the roof for maximum range.

✔ Do not coil excess RG-58 coax into a tight loop.

✔ Use rubber grommets anywhere the cable passes through sheet metal.

✔ Leave a small service loop behind the radio for future maintenance.

✔ Check the antenna mount periodically to ensure it remains tight.
